Chemical Compatibility of 1 micron PP felt filter bags
✅Generally Safe
- Acids (dilute & concentrated): Excellent resistance to sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid (up to ~70%), phosphoric acid, etc.
- Bases / Alkalis: Excellent resistance to sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide, etc.
- Alcohols: Methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, butanol (all safe).
- Oils & Fats: Generally resistant to vegetable oils, animal fats, mineral oils.
- Organic Acids: Acetic, citric, formic, lactic acids—good resistance.
- Most aqueous salt solutions.
⚠️ Limited Resistance
- Oxidizing agents: Concentrated nitric acid (>70%), fuming sulfuric acid, chromic acid, hydrogen peroxide (≥30%) may attack or embrittle PP.
- Halogenated hydrocarbons: Some swelling/softening with dichloromethane, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride.
- Aromatic hydrocarbons: Toluene, xylene, benzene—can cause swelling and stress cracking.
- Strong oxidizing salts: E.g. sodium hypochlorite (bleach) at high concentrations or high temps.
- Ketones & Esters: Limited resistance to acetone, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), ethyl acetate.
- Hydrocarbons: Limited resistance with fuels, diesel, biodiesel
❌ Not Recommended (Poor Compatibility)
- Strong oxidizers at high concentration/temperature (e.g., fuming nitric acid, aqua regia).
- Halogens: Chlorine, bromine (especially in liquid form).
- Some solvents: Aromatics and chlorinated hydrocarbons will eventually degrade PP with prolonged exposure.
Chemical Compatibility of 1 micron Nylon mesh filter bags
✅ Resistant (Generally Safe)
- Hydrocarbons: Aliphatic (hexane, heptane, mineral oils, lubricants).
- Bases / Alkalis (dilute): Resistant to weak bases and dilute solutions of sodium hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide.
- Alcohols: Methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, butanol.
- Ketones (some): Acetone, MEK—Nylon holds up better than PP to ketones.
- Esters: Ethyl acetate, butyl acetate (moderate resistance).
- Aromatic hydrocarbons (limited): Toluene, xylene—generally more tolerant than PP, but prolonged exposure may still cause softening.
- Halogenated hydrocarbons (some): Trichloroethylene, perchloroethylene—moderate resistance.
⚠️ Limited Resistance
- Strong acids (especially mineral acids): Sulfuric, hydrochloric, nitric acid attack nylon, causing hydrolysis. Even dilute acid will degrade over time.
- Strong bases (hot or concentrated): Sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide can hydrolyze Nylon at higher concentrations/temps.
- Oxidizing agents: Hydrogen peroxide (high concentration), sodium hypochlorite (bleach) will degrade Nylon.
- Formic acid & acetic acid (glacial): Can swell or dissolve Nylon.
- Phenols, cresols: Cause significant attack.
❌ Not Recommended (Poor Compatibility)
- Concentrated mineral acids (HCl, H2SO4, HNO3).
- Strong oxidizers (aqua regia, concentrated H₂O₂, chromic acid).
- Halogens (Cl₂, Br₂).
- Formic acid (even dilute can attack).
- Phenolic compounds.
Chemical Compatibility of 1 micron Polyester felt filter bags
✅ Resistant (Generally Safe)
- Dilute acids: Good resistance to dilute sulfuric, hydrochloric, nitric, phosphoric acids.
- Organic acids: Acetic, citric, tartaric, lactic acids — generally good resistance.
- Oils & fats: Stable in vegetable oils, animal fats, and mineral oils.
- Alcohols: Methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, butanol (safe).
- Hydrocarbons: Aliphatic (hexane, heptane, kerosene, mineral spirits).
- Halogenated hydrocarbons (moderate): Chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, dichloromethane — fair resistance, better than Nylon.
⚠️ Limited Resistance
- Bases / Alkalis: Sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide (especially hot or concentrated) cause hydrolysis and embrittlement.
- Oxidising agents: Sodium hypochlorite (bleach), hydrogen peroxide (concentrated) — attack PET over time.
- Phenolic compounds: Phenol, cresol — can cause degradation.
- Aromatic hydrocarbons : Toluene, xylene — moderate resistance.
❌ Not Recommended (Poor Compatibility)
- Strong alkalis (caustic soda, potash) at any significant concentration.
- Concentrated mineral acids (hot H₂SO₄, HCl, HNO₃).
- Phenols and strong oxidizers (chromic acid, aqua regia, fuming nitric acid).
- Formic acid and other strong solvents that attack esters.
